Apple To Begin Sharing Medical Info With 911

Apple will be offering a new feature through their Health app to share Medical ID with Emergency Communications Centers when users call 911. The service will become available during the iOS 13.5 build that will be shipping in the coming weeks according to Tech Crunch.

The data will be available to Communications Centers through the RapidSOS Clearinghouse. The service from RapidSOS is free to end users and provides a conduit for device manufactures and app developers to deliver supplemental information alongside a 911 call.

RapidSOS has been providing enhanced location data on select handsets as well as partnering with Uber to provide trip information from riders when they activate emergency services.

RapidSOS will be holding a free webinar for users to learn about the new features on May 14th at 3:30 pm EST.
