San Francisco 9-1-1 Struggling Under Increased Load

A “perfect storm” has hit the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management’s 9-1-1 operation according to Supervisor Aaron Peskin. Since 2011 the center’s call load as increased by 37 percent, leaving staff strained and overworked. To help lower strain additional money has been added for staffing and a misuse of 9-1-1 education program is underway.
