NJ Trooper Cleared in Shooting at Wrong Address

An unnamed New Jersey State Trooper has been cleared after he shot and wounded a Cumberland County man in July of 2016. The trooper, along with a second trooper, responded to a 9-1-1 call. When they arrived the man confronted the troopers armed with a shotgun believing they were intruders. Gunfire was exchanged and the man was seriously injured and one trooper received minor injuries. It was later learned that dispatchers had provided and incorrect address because the 9-1-1 caller had hung up, and that there was no call for service at the address where the shooting took place.
