Dispatcher Reprimanded for Ordering Dinner

A Broward County, Florida dispatcher received a written reprimand for failing to answer incoming 9-1-1 calls in a timely manner. Officials say that the dispatcher was on the phone for more than 8 minutes placing a large lunch order and that during that time a number of calls went unanswered and were abandoned.

Officials in the City of Fort Lauderdale, where a 9-1-1 call was “missed” during this incident, have since stated they believe there is a need to analyze if staying with the regional center is the right fit for the town.
