NJ Passed Toughened Swatting Law

New Jersey has passed a law increasing the penalties for placing false calls into police and requiring police to submit annual reports of false calls into their jurisdiction. The law increasing the penalties for swatting to a jail term between 5 and 10 years or a fine up to $150,000. Both the Democrats and Republicans came together to sign the bill in a bipartisan effort. New Jersey has seen a spike in Swatting incidents in the past year, including attacks on legislators speaking out in favor of change.
