A Savannah, Georgia 6th grader thought it would be funny to call 9-1-1 on a dare from his friends. When his parents found out the 6th grader was punished by writing a letter of apology and reading it to the dispatchers working in the 9-1-1 center. Dispatchers and police officers took the punishment and turned it into a learning opportunity for the young boy. The family got a tour of the facility and an inside look on how prank calls effect the work they perform.
This is an excellent example of community policing and creating a positive interaction with the public. Great work by the staff at the Savannah-Chatham 9-1-1 Center.
