We’ve started an IndieGoGo page to raise funds to try and bring back 911dispatch.com.

From the page:

What is This Project?

9-1-1 dispatchers, police dispatchers, fire dispatchers, and ambulance dispatchers are the link between the public and our emergency services. Every day thousands of 9-1-1 personnel man the phones and radios to provide help, guide our rescuers, and keep everyone safe.

There is, however, a lack of collected resources online for our 9-1-1 dispatchers. The goal of this campaign is to create the website for 9-1-1 dispatchers bringing together training, recordings, news, and a community for everyone to access.

Important History

There have been countless blogs, websites, YouTube accounts, and Facebook pages that have popped up over time to bring dispatchers together. Some have been wildly successful, but none bring together all of the pieces.

There was a website, 911dispatch.com, that was the best resource available on the internet. It was the go-to for everything that was involved in dispatching. The site was started in 1982 by a man named Gary Allen and grew into a bookmark on every dispatchers computer. Gary passed away in October of 2015 and his website was shut down shortly after leaving a gaping hole.

What We Need & What You Get

The main goal of this project is to purchase the domain name 911dispatch.com. The domain is up for auction (ending on November 16th). I anticipate the domain to sell for between $1,000 and $2,000 dollars.

The second goal is to collect money to pay for web hosting and development until the site begins to sustain itself.

Everything collected in this project will be put towards the project in some shape or form, and the financials will remain transparent.

My goal is to build a not for profit website as a free resource for everyone.

What do I get?

We are working on a images of perks to thank you for supporting us including buttons, mugs, mouse pads, and decals. Once we determine the domain name we are using, we’ll go ahead and finalize the design. If your interested in graphic design and think you can help, please message us!
Everyone who donates will be listed on a special page on the website, and will receive special recognition.

Risks

There is obviously the risk that we do not win the auction for 911dispatch.com. This WILL NOT be the end to this project however. I have a list of alternate domain names, and we will pick which one to use based on feedback from our community.
