The city of Anchorage, Alaska is in the process of upgrading their emergency communications systems. Some software and equipment is over 20 years old, long outside of maintenance contracts or support, and is held together by “held together with chewing gum and baling wire“. The city is in the process of planning an upgrade for their records management system and 9-1-1 equipement. The improvements will streamline operations between police and fire, and allow the center to be compliant with NG9-1-1.
