Mark McMurray was transferred three times and spoke with four dispatchers last year when he called 9-1-1. McMurray’s mother had suffered a heart attack prompting the call to 9-1-1. Sullivan County 9-1-1 answered the call first and determined the call to be in the City of Kingsport. Kingsport then transferred the call back to the county, who in turn transferred it again to Kingsport. This delay, reported to be about 2 minutes long, has prompted McMurray to speak out in favor of reforming the 9-1-1 system.
