Missouri has been notoriously behind other states in the country in funding their 9-1-1 system. The state currently has no statewide bill allowing for a tax to fund the system, which has left some areas without modern E911 services. In past years several bills have been in front of the legislature designed to allow for a tax funded system, however they have all failed to pass. Recognizing the need to not only fund the system, but create a platform for NG911, the state is again attempting to pass a bill allowing counties one of three methods to fund 911 systems.
