Recent legislation in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California is aimed at combating SWATing. SWATing simply put is individuals maliciously making requests for police services when there is no actual emergency. Usually these calls into police will report violent or high profile incidents generating a large response from police. In recent months there has been an increase in these calls as members of the “gaming” community have been contacting police in an attack on rivals.
